| Ever since the birth
of the escalator their have been many concerns over safety. Escalators
differ greatly from other forms of transportation in that the passenger
is exposed to the mechanics of the machine. Consequently the potential
for accidents is far greater.
For years the industry has recognized
the need for better escalator safety, and more recently, many changes have
been made in an effort to improve it.
This has resulted in the advent
of new safety devices. However, these devices
are not designed to prevent problems, merely to react to them. In fact
in some cases the operation of a device designed to prevent one type of
accident may result in another!
At Vertical Analysis we recognized
the need for a better solution, one that would improve both the safety
and reliability of the equipment. We know that the most effective way of
reducing the potential for accidents is through the early identification
and subsequent repair of worn, damaged or defective
components.
Drawing from the experience of
our principle members, experts from the Vertical Transportation industry,
a Defense Electronics Engineer and a NASA mechanical engineer, we set about
producing the first ever scientific method of inspecting escalators. This
resulted in the development of the Escalator Analyzer
and the Escalator Safety Analysis Program.
Every year thousands of people
are injured or killed while riding escalators. At Vertical Analysis we
are proud to have the opportunity to make a difference. |
